Course Description

SLA1403Y offers a survey of selected phenomena in contemporary Ukrainian literature. The course examines works in all genres—poetry, drama, and prose—but will concentrate on works of long prose (i.e. novels). Readings will include a number of trend-setting works and a few that have become classics, but many of the specific texts to be discussed will be chosen in conusltation with enrolled students after the initial meeting. This year there will be a special focus on women authors. A definitive reading list will not exist until the course is actually underway.
