Translations by Anatole Bilenko (Анатолій Біленко)
Anatole Bilenko is a unique figure among translators of Ukrainian literature. As a child he lived and attended school in the United States but returned with his parents to Ukraine where he made prolific use of his English language skills as a translator of literary texts. His translations first appeared during the Soviet era. He continued to translate in Kyiv, where he lived until his death in November 2013. The translations presented here were a gift to this library from Anatole Bilenko. The texts are presented without editorial intrusions, in the form that Mr Bilenko graciously provided them for the patrons of the Electronic Library of Ukrainian Literature.
